Woman airlifted off Mount Monadnock
JAFFREY — A Massachusetts hiker was airlifted off of Mount Monadnock on Saturday and transported to the hospital, after she fell and sustained a lower leg injury.
N.H. Parks and Recreation received a call at 3 p.m. on Saturday about a 19-year-old Burlington, Mass., woman who was unable to descend the mountain on her own due to reoccurring pain in her foot, said Amy Bassett, public outreach specialist for N.H. Parks and Recreation, on Monday.
“She was close to the top, just below Virginia Falls,” Bassett said referring to the time of the injury.
The helicopter reached the base of the mountain at about 4:35 p.m. and, from there, the woman was transported by Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance to Monadnock Community Hospital.
