Painting exhibit reception is July 5
An exhibit of paintings by Pat Silbert will be on display in the first-floor Auditorium Gallery at the Jaffrey Civic Center beginning July 5.
Silbert is a member of the Waverly Street Gallery in Bethesda, Md. She has been showing in galleries in the Washington, D.C., area for many years. She is in the midst of an ongoing series of paintings titled “Earth in Beauty Dressed.”
For Silbert these paintings are a meditative prayer for the protection of the world’s rural spaces, forests and trees. Many of these trees are massive ancient oaks once venerated and still protected in Ireland. As well as photographing trees in Ireland, Silbert has travelled to Ladach, India and Dungwang, China to study Buddhist art.
Silbert lives on Thorndike Pond during the summer months and in Chevy Chase, Md., during the winter months.
A champagne reception will be held at the show opening on Friday, July 5, from 5 to 8 p.m., in conjunction with an exhibit of jewelry by Eila Mackenzie which opens Friday.
The public is invited and admission is free.
