A day of fire and ice in New Ipswich

To the editor:

On Jan. 3 there was a house fire in New Ipswich. New Hampshire firefighters from New Ipswich, Greenville, Temple, Mason, Jaffrey and Dublin, and Massachusetts firefighters from Ashby and Ashburnham answered the call and put out the fire, all without an injury.

Firefighters, their equipment and turn out gear encased in ice, came to our ambulance for a quick thaw before returning to fight the blaze.

Thanks to the generosity of neighbors Linda and Al Goddard, Dunkin Donuts in Greenville and the remarkable Kay Somero, we were able to offer these dedicated firefighters hot coffee, donuts, home made nissu and plates of french toast, bacon and eggs.
