Would Ayotte arm her own kids?
To the editor:
The letter in the May 16 edition of the Ledger Transcript by William Chapman strongly suggests that at a recent Town Hall meeting in Fitzwilliam, Sen. Kelly Ayotte avoided the issue many of those attending the meeting wanted her to address – her voting record on firearms. In the past she stated her strong support for the position of the NRA and her opposition for any legislation curtailing gun ownership.
Had I the opportunity to question the senator, I would have asked if she had any reservation about arming her own children regardless of gender or age. The Internet lists dozens of gun companies that specialize in selling guns to children. The recent news reports of a 5-year-old boy shooting and killing his 2-year-old sister might give her pause. But as an ardent supporter of the Second Amendment, as she so proudly proclaims, would this incident lead her to violate her principles and practice gun control in her own family?
