Catlin takes 10th in alpine
With a majority of Dublin’s alpine ski team being new to the concept of racing or suffering from jet-lag due to returning from the past holiday break, this was primarily a training day at their home facility at Crotched Mountain. There was one Dublin skier present to represent the team at our first Lakes Region giant slalom qualifier of the season, however.
Freshman Addy Catlin raced in the girls’ event amidst a field of 23 competitors. Her first run went smoothly and she completed the course with an overall time of 38:40. By her second run, the course had become significantly icier and skied off, but she was still able to finish well with a time of 42:72. Addy’s combined time for the two runs was 81:12, which placed her in the 10th place position. Brewster Academy ending up taking the day, with their female racers claiming four of the top five spots.
The Dublin Alpine Race Team will return to action this week, with more of the team represented, as they travel to Andover to race at Blackwater Ski Area in the first of two January slalom qualifying races.
