“More Than A Roof,” a film documenting homelessness in the Monadnock region and the work of Hundred Nights Emergency Homeless Shelter and Resource Center, will be shown at the 10th annual Monadnock International Film Festival in Keene.

The film will have it’s first public screening Sunday, Sept. 25, at 3 p.m. at The Colonial Theater’s Showroom at 20 Commercial St. The film looks at the challenges of homelessness through the eyes of several local people and a family, as well as commentary from experts in the field.

In the film, Mindy Cambiar, director of the Hundred Nights Shelter in Keene, tells how the shelter was overflowing last winter, with almost double the number of people seeking refuge compared to the previous year. The shelter’s facility, a bus and hotels had to be used to house the demand for emergency housing. Hundred Nights is raising funds to complete a permanent facility that will provide more beds, family rooms and resources that can help transition people from homelessness to getting back on their feet.

Tickets can be purchased through the MONIFF website, moniff.org, or at the Showroom the day of the show.
