Misogyny in power

To the editor:

So now we have a local example of white male in “power” who thinks it’s funny to insult and threaten women. (does he say that same “joke” to redneck muscle men who come to his meetings?) Or is he just taking his clue from the Liar in Chief in the White House? Wouldn’t you just love to see Trump out in public without his Secret Service men or his personal bodyguards?! It’s so easy to be the macho man when there is a wall between you and the rest of the world.

Of course, just like Trump, Mr. Cohen says he was “just joking.” Funny how often the President’s people claim he was just joking, yet none of his supposed jokes are funny! And has anyone else noticed that if anyone, say Kathy Griffin or Madonna, makes a joke about Trump, they get investigated by the FBI, and they are professional comedians whose job it is to make jokes. Yet when Trump, even before he was President, makes direct threats on people, there are zero ramifications?

Mostly though, I wonder if these white men who think they have power over women and treat them with disrespect, do they have moms? What would they think if their mother was treated like that by another man? Would it bother them? Or are they so insecure about their masculinity (sexuality?) that they even treat their own mothers and daughters like that?
