Peterborough police arrested two Peterborough men Thursday following a search of a Union Street apartment that is part of an ongoing drug investigation.

“This is an address where we have responded to overdoses in the past,” said Peterborough Police Chief Scott Guinard.

Alex Bourgoine, 26, of Union Street was arrested for felony acts prohibited – sale of heroin and felony common nuisance.

Caleb Thurston, 29, of Summer Street was arrested for felony possession of a controlled narcotic – heroin.

Bourgoine refused bail and was taken to the Hillsborough County House of Corrections in Manchester. He was to have been arraigned on Friday in the Hillsborough County Superior Court – North.

Thurston was processed at the police station and released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail with a court date of July 5 in the Hillsborough County Superior Court – North.

Both Bourgoine and Thurston were arrested and charged following a search of an 8 Union Street apartment, where a Peterborough man was found dead early this month.

Shortly after midnight on June 7, police and the Peterborough ambulance responded to 8 Union Street for a report of an untimely death.

Upon arrival, the 36-year-old man, Jason Eddy, was found deceased.

Guinard said Friday, police are waiting on toxicology reports to determine whether the death was the result of a drug overdose.

“That is believed to be drug overdose. We are waiting for the toxicology on that,” Guinard said earlier this month when talking about the increase in drug overdoses in Peterborough.

Guinard said Monday the death was part of the reason police had requested a search warrant for the apartment.

“It’s been an ongoing investigation for some time and there’s a lot to it, but the recent death was part of it,” Guinard said.
