The Dunkin’ Donuts on Route 202 in the Brady’s Plaza in Peterborough has been closed since Monday due to plaza plumbing issues, said plaza manager Barry York said Wednesday.

York, who also owns Brady’s American Grill in the plaza, said the plumbing issues started Sunday night.

“There’s a backup in the drain of the sewer line,” York said. “I think all the water from all the other units goes into one line and then it’s all backing up into Dunkin’ Donuts when they use the water.”

Workers from the town water department were brought in Tuesday to help determine the issue, York said.

“They came over and decided it was a drain backed up,” York said.

The backup is in the sewage line within the plaza system before it reaches the street, when it would be a town issue, York said.

Late Wednesday afternoon workers from Cheshire Drain Service were jack-hammering the floor in the backroom of the Dunkin' Donuts. One worker said they were still looking for the cause of the backup in the drainage system and didn’t know when it would be found or fixed.

“Everything drains into one system,” York said. “They’re the unlucky one.”

York said the jack-hammering on Wednesday caused another plaza business, Conrad's Hair Affair Salon, to close that day as well.

York said he is unsure when the problem will be fixed and the businesses can reopen.

Employees at the Dunkin Donuts on Route 101 said the Route 202 location is expected to reopen Friday.

The other businesses in the plaza are Peterborough Veterinary Clinic, U.S. Cellular and Grappelli's Pizza.
