Michelle August, RN, CHPCA has joined Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services (HCS) as Director of Hospice.

“We’re fortunate to have a person of Michelle’s caliber to join our team,” said Maura McQueeney, CEO. “HCS is getting a great leader who will help us continue to grow our reputation as being the best local hospice program.”

August is a Certified Hospice & Palliative Care Administrator and brings more than 20 years of experience in health care to HCS.

She most recently served as Vice President of Operations for Beacon Hospice in Rhode Island, Connecticut & Massachusetts. She is also the founder and former CEO of the Rhode Island Hospice Veterans Partnership, an organization dedicated to improving end of life care for veterans. The mission of Hospice Veterans Partnership is to educate healthcare providers about the needs of veterans and to care for and honor veterans at end of life. August will continue her dedication to veterans as she joins the New Hampshire Hospice Veterans Partnership.

“What drew me to Hospice at HCS is that it has such longevity in its staff, some team members having been here over 25 years,” said August. “I am very pleased to have joined an agency that has received such great quality scores, it made me want to come here. What makes me passionate about Hospice at HCS, is that we focus on asking patients what they truly desire. Some patients wish to travel to a beloved place, some wish to see more friends and family, some wish to assure their pet is cared for… and we are here to make those wishes full.”

August is a member of NHPCO (National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization), and Hospice Foundation of America.

She has been active with the Alzheimer’s Association, and will be part of the HCS team in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Sept. 14.

August and her husband Ron Pelletier are relocating to the Keene area.
