Contra dancing  set for July 13

The second Saturday contra dance will be held at the Nelson Town Hall on July 13, beginning at 8 p.m.

Chris Weiler from northern Vermont will be calling the dances with music by Greg and Jessie Boardman on fiddles, viola, cello, guitar, whistle, and pump organ. The Boardmans are versed in classical and folk (New England, French Canadian and Maritime) traditions. Greg is the founder of Maine Fiddle Camp and has been awarded a Traditional Arts Fellowship by the Maine Arts Commission.

There will be a brief workshop before the dance. Beginners and singles are welcome and all dances are taught throughout the evening.

Admission is $8 or $6 for students and seniors.
