Good Shepherd  earns four stars

Three of New Hampshire Catholic Charities rehabilitation and nursing centers have received the highest rating of five stars as reported in U.S. News & World Report’s listing of best nursing homes for 2013. In addition, four other NHCC’s nursing centers received four stars overall. A four-star ratings was awarded to the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Jaffrey.

The Best Nursing Homes 2013 ratings highlight the top nursing homes in each state and nearly 100 major metropolitan areas.

Out of more than 15,000 facilities nationwide, U.S. News identified 3,036 homes that earned an overall five-star rating, based on Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services data.

The CMS, a federal agency, assesses nursing homes in three categories for its rating system: health inspections, level of nurse staffing and quality of care. U.S. News awarded the “Best Nursing Home” designation to homes that earned an overall rating of five stars from CMS.

According to U.S. News, fewer than one out of every five nursing homes received the highest possible overall rating of five stars.

“This honor recognizes that NHCC’s Rehabilitation and Nursing Centers are some of the nation’s best,” says Michael Lehrman, vice president of NHCC’s Healthcare Services. “Short-term patients and residents in our nursing centers receive the highest quality care from compassionate and dedicated staff.”
