Epiphany celebration at All Saints

A special Epiphany celebration, free and open to the public, will be presented at All Saints Church, 51 Concord St., on Monday, when local iconographer Keri Wiederspahn’s “icon house” will be on display.

Interested participants are asked to gather at 4:45 p.m. in the church rectory’s living room, immediately to the left of the outdoor icon house in the front walkway. At 5 p.m., after a brief introduction, all will process outdoors together for a short reading and traditional hymn sing led by musician Laina Barakat.

Wiederspahn, who is director of the Sharon Arts Center, says she created the small devotional house from twine-lashed birch, from which over 200 glass jars are wired, as a response to the passing of her Russian iconography mentor Ksenia Pokrovsky under whom she spent six years studying the ancient tradition of Russian-Byzantine iconography. One of Wiederspahn’s icons, “Our Lady of the Signs,” will be displayed inside the icon house.

Light refreshments will be held at the church following the program. Families are welcome and encouraged, and parking is available in the church parking lot behind Reynolds Hall. Handicapped parking, along with easy access, is located on the south side of the church.

For more information, call the church at 924-3202.
