Peterborough Police Log: April 24, 2014
Monday, April 14
Assist: At 3:20 p.m., firefighters and police went to Wilder Street after getting a report of a tree on wires. Police found branches had fallen and power was out in the area, but there was no fire. PSNH was notified.
Assist: At 7:33 p.m., police responded with the Fire Department to the area of Currier Avenue and Lounsbury Lane for a possible illegal burn. Police spoke to two juveniles who admitted starting a fire in an attempt to heat water. The juveniles were educated on the dangers of burning at this time of year by the Fire Department.
Theft report: At 8:41 p.m., police opened an investigation after getting a report that a bicycle had been stolen at Prescott Hill Apartments.
Tuesday, April 15
Assault report: At 11:58 a.m., a Dublin woman reported that a man whom she did not know had made physical contact with her at the Shaw’s store on Route 101. The woman was not injured.
Hit-and-run: At 2:09 p.m., Edward Lossman, 69, of Peterborough reported that a driver in a pickup truck had backed into Lossman’s 2004 PT Cruiser while it was parked at the Big Apple. A witness gave Lossman the plate number of the other vehicle, and police are investigating.
Arrest: At 5 p.m., following a report of shoplifted food at Shaw’s grocery store, police arrested Tracy Crowell, 37, of Peterborough and charged her with willful concealment/theft. She was released on $1,000 personal recognizance with a May 5 court date.
Wednesday, April 16
Accident: At 9:11 a.m., Christopher Malinoski, 42, of Swanzey notified police that he had pulled out of Mr. Mike’s on Route 202 in his 2013 Chrysler Dart and hit a 2003 Volkswagen Passat, driven by Gregory Hanselman, 61, of Boston, causing minor damage. No one was injured and the two men exchanged insurance information.
Shots fired: At 1:17 p.m., police went to Shieling Forest on Old Street Road after getting a report of someone shooting a BB gun. No one was found.
Theft report: At 3:30 p.m., a ConVal student reported the theft of a piece of jewelry. School staff told police the item had been found by a bus driver who will return it in the morning.
Assist motorist: At 5:15 p.m., police assisted a resident on the bike path along Summer Street who was looking for vernal pools to help with salamander and frog crossing.
Vehicle impounded: At 8:11 p.m., during a traffic stop on Route 136, an officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver denied consent to search the vehicle and it was impounded pending a search warrant. When the vehicle was searched, drugs and drug paraphernalia were found. Police are investigating.
Arrest: At 10:48 p.m., police located two vehicles parked at a closed business on Concord Street. One of the occupants, Tracey Lacroix, 45, of Jaffrey, was arrested on a bench warrant from 8th Circuit Court, Jaffrey, charging him with nonpayment of attorney’s fees. He was released on $2,500 personal recognizance with a May 5 court date.
