Peterborough Police Log: May 1, 2014
Monday, April 21
Theft report: at 4:23 p.m., police opened an investigation into an attempted theft at the Shaw’s grocery store on Route 101.
Mailbox issue: At 5 p.m., an Elm Hill Road resident reported that a vehicle had hit her mailbox and the driver left the scene. Police located the mailbox in the road, along with a piece of the vehicle.
Arrest: At 9:56 p.m., after stopping a vehicle on Route 101 for an alleged traffic violation, police arrested a passenger, Debbie Freedman, 49, of Brattleboro, Vt., who was wanted on a bench warrant from Goffstown District Court, charging her with failure to appear on a DWI charge. Bail was set at $500 cash with a court date of April 22 in Goffstown District Court. Freedman could not make bail and was taken to Valley Street Jail.
Tuesday, April 22
Arrest: At 5:46 p.m., Stephen Lechner, 50, of Temple turned himself in on a warrant charging him with issuing bad checks. He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance with a court date of June 9 in 8th Circuit Court, Jaffrey.
Arrest: at 6:50 p.m., Dana Marmorstein, 42, of Peterborough turned himself in on a warrant charging him with simple assault. He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance with a court date of June 9.
Accident: At 7:45 p.m., Peter McFarland, 22, of Bennington was driving on Route 202 North in a 2005 Subaru Impreza when he hit a deer. He was not injured, but there was heavy damage to the front end of the vehicle, which was towed.
Wednesday, April 23
Arrest: At 9:08 a.m., David Plaisted, 21, of New Ipswich was arrested and charged with forgery and theft by unauthorized taking. He was released on $2,500 personal recognizance with a June 9 court date.
Loose pigs: At 3:41 p.m., a driver reported three loose pigs on Route 136. The owner was notified, and he came out to round up the pigs.
Thursday, April 24
Assist: At 7:13 a.m., Wilton police requested a stop and hold for a vehicle that was allegedly involved in a hit and run. An officer located the vehicle, stopped it and held it. A Wilton officer responded to conduct an investigation.
Domestic disturbance: At 8:13 a.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance involving a mother and son at a Vine Street residence. The situation was resolved and there were no injuries.
Assault report: At 1:36 p.m., a man reported he had been assaulted at a business on Sharon Road. No injuries were reported. Police opened an investigation.
Accident: At 8:41 p.m., Kenneth Webster, 42, of Peterborough was southbound on Old Street Road when a deer ran across the road and hit Webster’s 2002 Subaru Forester on the rear driver’s-side quarter panel, causing minor damage. Webster was not injured. The deer died and was removed.
Assist: At 11:12 p.m., police got a report of a car that drove by Shaw’s on Route 101 at 70 mph with its flashers on. An officer located the vehicle and provided an escort to Monadnock Community Hospital.
