Wednesday, Oct. 24

Accident: At 3:57 p.m., police responded to a rollover accident on Route 202 just south of Bennington Road. A minor from Peterborough was driving a 2008 Ford pickup truck southbound when he lost control, swerved several times, and went off the road into the woods. He told police he swerved to avoid a pack of deer in the road. He had lacerations to his head and body and complained of back injury and trouble breathing. He and a passenger, Brittany Gray, 18, of East Thetford, Vt., were taken by ambulance to Monadnock Community Hospital for treatment. A second passenger, Eric Bourgoine, 18, of Peterborough, was uninjured. None of the occupants of the truck was wearing a seat belt. The truck had significant damage and was towed. The accident is under investigation; Police Chief Andrew Wood said speed appears to be a factor.

Saturday, Oct. 27

Assist: At 10:23 a.m., Officer Melissa Hetrick assisted rescue workers on North Road. A woman experiencing back pain was taken to Monadnock Community Hospital.

Accident: At 12:36 p.m., Hetrick went to Main Street after William Johnston, 43, of Keene, driving a 2005 Ford Expedition, pulled onto Main Street from Bennington Road and hit a 1990 Volvo driven by a minor from Hancock, who had just pulled onto Main Street from Forest Road. Both vehicles had minor damage and were driven away. Johnston was issued a warning for failure to yield the right of way.

Monday, Oct. 29

Storm damage: Starting at about 1 p.m., Wood, Hetrick and Officer George Xenakis responded to a number of complaints about trees down on roadways or utility wires. Officers removed trees from Windy Row, Stoddard Road, Peterborough Road, Norway Hill Road, South Elmwood Road and Route 202 near South Elmwood Road. Highway Department workers removed a tree on King’s Highway. Firefighters went to Old Dublin Road when a tree on wires resulted in visible sparking. PSNH was notified when trees were on wires. A tree blocking Stoddard Road resulted in the road being closed overnight.

Assist: At 6:49 p.m., Wood assisted rescue workers at Longview Road. A woman with chest pains was taken to Monadnock Community Hospital.

Tuesday, Oct. 30

Check the welfare: At 9:19 a.m., Wood checked on a Bond’s Corner Road man at the request of a relative. He helped the man set up a phone that didn’t require electrical power and contacted the man’s son, who was coming with a generator.

Storm damage: At 11:03 a.m., a Cross Road man reported seeing a deer in distress. The animal was dead when Wood arrived. It appeared to have been struck by a falling tree.

Storm damage: At 2:42 p.m., Wood located an electrical transformer on South Elmwood Road that was likely to fall off its pole. PSNH was notified.
