Letter: Hypocrisy of adult store was in question

To the editor:

A few weeks back I wrote a letter to the editor regarding the new adult store in town. Carol Nelson responded to mine and another reader’s letter, suggesting that we “live and let live” and that the students from the high school don’t need to walk past the store and there’s no signage on Route 202, so what’s the big deal? Ms. Nelson, there is no big deal.

With the Internet and the advent of online shopping, most people would prefer to purchase their adult novelties in the privacy of their own homes and with the anonymity that the Internet offers. I don’t suspect this adult store will be a problem for too long. I would like to also point out that I wasn’t so much worried about students walking past as I was with the type of clientele that a business such as this can possibly draw and the hypocrisy of what is suitable for Our Town and what isn’t.
