Tonyai, Cadorett, Zanga and McGurk grab victories
Conant senior Katie Tonyai made it a clean sweep in the two sprinting events at Saturday’s indoor track meet at the University of New Hampshire.
Tonyai, who had already qualified for the Division II Championships after her opening weekend performance, won the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.20 seconds and then defeated the field in the 300 meters in 42.70 seconds.
But Tonyai was not the only one to earn a victory on Saturday.
ConVal junior Coty Cadorett won the shot put event with a throw of 41 feet and 9.75 inches. The toss was good enough to qualify for Cadorett for the state meet.
ConVal junior Haley Zanga won the 55-meter hurdles in 9.30 seconds. She was second in the preliminary round, but shaved .10 seconds off her time. Zanga had already qualified for the D-II meet in the event.
At Dartmouth, Mascenic senior Elizabeth McGurk won the 3,000 meters in 11:32.69 and was just a few seconds off the qualifying standard.
ConVal’s Riley Henry and Corey Barrett finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 300 meters, while Nick Orr took fifth in the 600.
Conant and Mascenic will compete at UNH on Saturday, while ConVal makes the trip to Dartmouth.
