Watercolor exhibit opens March 23 at Hancock library

An exhibit of watercolor paintings by Eugenie Sprague of Hancock will be on display in the Daniels Room at the Hancock Town Library through May 2.

Sprague first took up watercolors eight years ago at the age of 87. Although she had never painted and had only a little drawing experience, she joined Jan Caskey’s watercolor class held Wednesdays in the Vestry.

Her paintings show attention to detail, command of color, and a wide variety of subjects, including landscapes, still life, portraits, and animals. A collection of more than 30 of her works will be on display.

An artist’s reception is planned for April 7, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Since the Daniels Room is sometimes reserved for community meetings, it is always best to call the library at 525-4411 before attending an exhibit.
