Disappointed  in Sen. Ayotte

In a few short days, I hope to reach my 90th birthday. My one wish at this point is that my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be able to live in a better America than the one in which we now live. I am certain that other senior citizens have the same wish.

Today, I sit in both shock and dismay as I learn of the votes that were cast on gun control legislation. By now, we all know which members of our Senate voted for and against this legislation for mandatory background checks that were specifically designed to prevent criminals from purchasing any type of weapon.

The shock factor was brought about as I learned that our New Hampshire senator, Kelly Ayotte, voted against this important piece of legislation. A fact that added to this shock was that Sen. Ayotte was our former attorney general, and with her law background and her experience in the courts of New Hampshire that she would give in to the propaganda of the National Rifle Association. Her “Nay” vote shows that she, along with all the other members of the Senate, did not have the courage to stand up against the NRA. Truly all have shown themselves as “cowards.” They feared the vengeance that would be placed upon them by the NRA in future election campaigns.

As Americans, we are free to vote for whomever we choose, and I hope that all who read this will join me in voting against Sen. Ayotte in the 2016 elections. We should also offer our praise and thanks to all who had the courage to stand against the NRA by voting for this important bill.
