A ‘Splendid’ find?

You never quite know what you’re going to find when you start clearing off your desk. In my case, I’ve recently moved from a
corner surrounded by file cabinets that house old pictures. Somehow this old picture slid into a pile of my old clips, and it resurfaced earlier this month. The problem is, we’re not sure it ever ran. Here’s what I know. Obviously, it’s Ted Williams, perhaps the greatest hitter to ever play the game. And the picture was shot in September of 1960, the “Splendid Splinter’s” final year as a Major Leaguer. What I don’t know is who is in the photo. It was taken by a Peterborough photographer, but we’re imagining some of the kids in the picture must have had local ties. If you recognize someone, reach me at tgoodwin@ledgertranscript.com. Now I’m off to clutter up my new desk.
