Three charged after alleged shoplifting

NASHUA — A Wilton man was arrested with two others after allegedly being caught attempting to shoplift from a Nashua department store, according to a press release issued by the Nashua Police Department on July 9.

On July 8 at about 4 p.m., Frank Pineault, 36, of Wilton, Benjamin Sherman, 22, of Nashua and Walter Dankhoff Jr., 25, of no fixed address, were al in a Kohl’s Department store in Nashua, police said, when the shop managers allegedly noticed the three concealing merchandise on their persons while still in the store.

Police were contacted, and when the three exited the store, allegedly without making any effort to purchase the merchandise, the three were confronted by uniformed officers.

The three were searched and merchandise was found on their person, according to the release, and all three were arrested. A criminal records check revealed that both Sherman and Pineault each had two prior theft-related convictions, which enhanced their charges from a class A misdemeanors to a class B felonies. Pineault and Sherman were each charged with felony theft by unauthorized taking.

Dankhoff was charged with misdemeanor theft by unauthorized taking. When Dankhoff was searched, police also allegedly found property connected to an unrelated theft, and further charged Dankhoff with receiving stolen property.

Pineault, Sherman and Dankhoff were all held in lieu of cash-only bail, pending arraignments at the 9th Circuit Court in Nashua.
