Recycling, by  the numbers

Peterborough and Sharon residents recycled 65 tons in September, according to Peterborough Recycling Manager Scott Bradford.

Recycled items included newspaper (3.2 tons), cardboard (6.6), mixed paper, (16.38), plastics (2.31), aluminum cans (0.6), steel cans (0.88), food waste (1.2), glass (21), textiles (7.44), electronics (2.29) and tires (3.1).

By recycling, residents avoided paying $7,085 in disposal fees in September; they generated $8,046 in revenue, for a total monthly savings of $15,131.
