Cardinals top Marlins in title series

The final game of the Monadnock Babe Ruth Championship Series was held Thursday with the Cardinals completing the two game sweep by beating the Marlins 6-2. Marlins pitcher Charlie Morris went the distance, only giving up two earned runs, but it wasn’t enough.

Cardinals pitcher Tyler Newcomb held the Marlins scoreless through four and provided a couple of key hits to put the Cardinals in the lead for good in the 5th. Both the Cardinals’ catcher Carter Jack Cormier and Marlins’ catcher Tyler Sands provided solid defense, keeping the runners in check all night.

The Cardinals won the first game 13-3 on Wednesday setting up the possible elimination game with the Marlins the next night.
