Tuesday, August 6

Accident: At 3:52 p.m., a Summerhill Assisted Living worker reported that his Mitsubishi Eclipse had been damaged in the parking lot. The car had a small dent and paint scratches on the left rear corner.

Wednesday, August 7

Vandalism: At 8:10 a.m., a resident reported that three “Pedestrian Crossing” signs at Adams Playground are being regularly thrown into the woods or onto the softball fields.

Warning: At 1:41 p.m., after getting a complaint about barking dogs, police issued a warning to a Sand Hill Road resident who owns the dogs.

Thursday, August 8

Accident: At 12:24 p.m., Wilton police reported that an accident had occurred on Route 101 and Old Mountain Road in Peterborough, and one driver had followed the other to a gas station in Wilton. Both drivers returned to Peterborough and police opened an investigation.

Accident: At 1:10 p.m., Russell W. Colby, 78, of Peterborough was backing a 2003 Ford Explorer out of a parking space near the Bond Wellness Center when his foot got caught between the accelerator and the brake pedal, causing him to back into a parked 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, according to police reports. Barbara J. Parker, 70, of Bennington, who was in the Cobalt, was taken to Monadnock Community Hospital to be examined for a possible neck injury. The Explorer had minor damage to the rear bumper and tailgate, and was driven away. The Cobalt had extensive damage to the rear bumper and trunk, and was towed.

Friday, August 9

Arrest: At 9:46 a.m., police arrested John F. Fortin, 52, of Peterborough on a warrant charging him with two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and two counts of criminal restraint. Fortin was processed and released on $100,000 personal recognizance with a Sept. 16 court date in 8th Circuit Court, Jaffrey. The alleged victim is a minor, and under his bail conditions, Fortin is forbidden to have any contact with a minor under the age of 18.

Monday, August 12

Accident: At 1:22 p.m., a Jaffrey woman reported the mirror of her car had been hit while the car was parked on Main Street earlier in the day.

Theft: At 6:27 p.m., a Milford woman reported that the window of her 2003 Jeep Liberty had been smashed while it was parked at Temple Mountain State Park. A purse was stolen from the vehicle.
