Firefighters to serve up breakfast Saturday
The Rindge Firefighters Association invites the public to start the Columbus Day Weekend with a $5 all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast featuring locally made maple syrup, sausage, juice and coffee.
The breakfast is part of an open house event that includes tours of the fire station and a close, hands-on look at fire and rescue equipment. Fire prevention information will be available, and there will be activities and demonstrations, including the extrication of a “patient” from a motor vehicle using hydraulic cutting tools.
Rindge Fire and Rescue will celebrate National Fire Prevention Week with an open house on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The pancake breakfast will run from 7 to 10 a.m. Fire and rescue equipment will be on display. Activities will include children’s events, fire extinguisher demonstrations, and a look at the department’s Thermal Imaging Cameras used to detect fires hidden in walls and locate people and pets in heavy smoke conditions.
At 11 a.m. the extrication demonstration will feature the rescue of a patient trapped in a motor vehicle. This event will be narrated by full-time firefighter/EMT and Fire Prevention Specialist Casey Burrage.
