Senior goaltender Shannon O’Neil of the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team has been named New England Hockey Conference Goaltender of the Week, as announced on Monday afternoon by the Conference office.

O’Neil logged every minute in net for the Ravens in a 2-0-0 week and made 38 saves against 39 shots, allowing just one goal along the way. On Friday night, she stopped all 17 shots she faced to post a shutout in a 5-0 win at Saint Michael’s. On Saturday afternoon, O’Neil made 21 saves against 22 shots to pick up the win in a 5-1 victory at University of New England.

On the young season, O’Neil has been the only netminder to take the ice for the Ravens through four games. She has made 84 saves against 88 shots to post a 1.00 goals-against average and a .955 save percentage on the way to a 3-1-0 record.

The Ravens return to the ice on Friday, Nov. 11, when they return home to host Saint Michael’s in an NEHC contest. Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena in Winchendon.
