Monadnock teams to play at states
12U and 10U tournaments this weekend
The Monadnock 12 and under and 10U all-star softball teams will travel to Londonderry this weekend for their respective state tournaments.
The Monadnock 12U team is coming off a 6-0 performance where they won the District 5 championship in Peterborough last weekend over Souhegan Valley, while the Monadnock 10U team placed runner-up at the District 5 tournament held the weekend of June 28-30.
The top two teams in both district tournaments advanced to the state tournament this weekend.
While the state tournaments begin on Friday night, the Monadnock teams do not get going until Saturday, where they will each play three games.
The Monadnock 12U squad is one of four teams in Pool A and squares off with Pelham at 8 a.m. on Saturday, followed by a contest with the host team Londonderry at 10 a.m. The 12’s finish off pool play with a 4 p.m. game against the Rockers. All three games will be played at Perkins Field.
The 10U team takes on Litchfield at 8 a.m. and Londonderry at 10 a.m. The team then plays Merrimack at 4 p.m. All three games are on MacInnis Field.
On Sunday, all eight teams in each age group will advance to the single elimination portion of the state tournament beginning at 9 a.m.
The championship games will be played at 3 p.m. on Sunday. The winner of each tournament advances to regionals.
