Community working together makes a difference

To the editor:

What does community mean to you? We would like to suggest that community is that special larger place we call home; a place we feel we belong. Community is a place where others care for us and where we care for them. Community is a place called Rindge and Jaffrey where people are true neighbors; working together to address community problems such as hunger with community partnerships. Community is a place where citizens are working hand in hand to care for some of the most vulnerable in our midst. For our community, the children among us facing food insecurity are not numbers on a report form; they are part of families with hopes and dreams who also happen to be facing difficult times.

We wish to extend a sincere thank you to each of the 100 plus volunteers in the Jaffrey and Rindge community who have touched lives by volunteering in the Rindge UCC Got Lunch Programs. By making home deliveries of nutritious breakfasts, lunches and dinners to children as part of the Got Lunch School Vacation Program, by preparing and delivering the Got Lunch Weekend bags, and by stocking and supporting the middle and high school food pantry programs you have built a loving and nurturing community! On behalf of the children you serve, we say thank you!

If you would like to join us in shaping a community of hope by volunteering, please contact the Rindge UCC Got Lunch Program at 899-5722.
